League points the priority as City head to meet Mons

Monaghan United v Derry City, Tuesday, 8pm Gortakeegan

 

Derry City will have to pick themselves up after Saturdays penalty shot out loss to Crusaders in the Setanta Cup final. They travel to Gortakeegan tomorrow night in need of three points after a disappointing week.

 

With City lying in eighth position in the league a win over Monaghan would see the Foylesiders climb two places into sixth ahead of Bray Wanderers.

City travel to Belfast tomorrow aiming to return back down the M2 with the Setanta Cup trophy and the title of All Ireland Champions.  In their way stand the men for the Shore Road, in the form of Stephen Baxter’s Crusaders side.

Congratulations to Oxford United Stars

Derry City would like to congratulate Oxford United Stars U-14 side, who clinched the Northern Ireland Boys Cup yesterday.  The local side defeated Lisburn Distillery 4-2 yesterday in the Ballymena Showgrounds to lift the trophy.


Congratulations to ex City players

Derry City would like to congratulate ex Candystripes James McClean and David Forde who were named in Giovanni Trappatoni’s  squad for the Euro 2012 finals.  We would also like to congratulate Derry native Darron Gibson who was also named in the squad.


City drawn away to Sligo in League Cup

The draw for the EA Sports Cup quarter final was made this evening, with City drawn away to Sligo Rovers.  The game will be played on either 25th/26th June.
