Derry City are delighted to announce that Simon Madden has joined the club.
The 23 year old full back was captain of Dundalk in the 2011 season but has opted to move north for the coming campaign.
The Dubliner started his career at Leeds United but returned to Ireland and signed for Shamrock Rovers in 2008. His form with the Hoops earned him several Irish U-21 caps but he was surprising released at the end of the 2009 season.
Madden moved to Darlington Town and played 15 times for the club, but was unable to prevent their relegation to League 2. Madden was amongst a host of players released by the club as they looked to slash costs and he returned to the League of Ireland in the colours of the Lilywhites.
Madden was a long rumoured target of former boss Stephen Kenny but it was his successor Devine who has made the move, luring Madden to join Rory Patterson at the Brandywell.
