Derry sign Wolves winger McGroary

Derry City have signed winger Brian McGroary on a one-year deal from Wolves.

McGroary, originally from Donegal Town, revealed that had a number of options available to him before opting to come to the Brandywell.

“I got phone calls from a few different places but after speaking to Declan Devine and Paul Hegarty, I thought Derry City was the best option for me.”

“The club has a great fan base, I like the style of play and it’s only an hour up the road from where I live as well so I’m looking forward to getting back into it again.”

“I know Derry want to push for the title and their style of play will suit me – it is the best option for me and a good place to further learn my trade.”

However City fans may have to wait a few weeks, before seeing the player in action:

“I’m looking forward to playing League of Ireland football, although it’ll be maybe six weeks until I’m fully fit.”

McGroary added that he would like to return to full-time football in England at some stage.

“I know a lot of young players have gone on to play professional football after playing for Derry,” said the 19-year-old.
