Derry City have signed midfielder Rory Hale from Galway United on a one-year contract.
Rory spent a few years with Championship club, Aston Villa, and having captained their Under-18 and Under-23 squads, he joined the Tribesmen in a bid to get first-team football in August this year. Although he was unable to save them from relegation, the central midfielder remained a standout performer.
The 20 year-old Belfast man has a previous Derry City connection as his grandfather Danny Hale formerly lined out up front for the Candystripes and was top goalscorer in the 1968/69 season of the Irish League. He went on to spend three seasons at the Brandywell and left with a tally of 100 goals.
