Avondale seal FAI Umbro Intermediate Cup two in a row.

It was a dramatic FAI Umbro Intermediate Cup final as both teams put themselves in position to win the match but it was Avondale that were victorious for the second year in a row winning 2-1 after extra time. Cherry Orchard could be forgiven for thinking they had won the cup as they led 1-0 in the third minute of extra time thanks to a 66th minute strike from Graham McCarthy but Avondale had other ideas and equalized  in injury time through Kevin Long sending the match to extra time. The second for Avondale came in the second period of extra time through Declan Cahill for what proved to be the winning goal.
