Ryan McBrideHeadSmall Derry notched up their sixth straight victory last night after a hard fought battle against Trevor Croly’s Shamrock Rovers side, who certainly posed a challenge to the home side.  Three second half goals and a frantic end to the game eventually saw City hold on to claim all three points but this was certainly far from an easy victory for the Candystripes.

The post match reaction of the players told’s it own story.  No wild celebration, the squad just congratulated each other and exited the pitch.  This was a chance of very much job done for City as they came to Dublin and put a toothless Bohs side to the sword on their own patch.  The scoreline may have made the rest of the League sit up and take notice, but it was a clinical performance from a new look Candystripe side.

Champions Sligo Rovers produced a workmanlike display to deservedly claim all three points with a 1-0 win at Derry City.

City signed off the 2012 Airtricty League campaign with a home victory in front of the Brandywell faithful.  First half goals from Simon Madden and David McDaid were enought ot secure all three points for the home side, despite a spirited second half come back from the visitors, who may feel that could have grabbed a point right at the end.

UCD profit as City’s home misery continues

UCD left the Brandywell with all three points as the home side slipped to their eight home defeat of the season.  UCD scored either side of half time, and whilst Deery grabbed one back for the home side, it was not enough.
