He may have spent the last few weeks on the sidelines as he watched the side win and Michael Rafter catch him on the goal scoring charts, but Rory Patterson wasted no time on his return, adding another two to his tally for the season.  Declan Devine saw his side recover from one nil down to a comfortable 3-1 victory on the night as the Candystripes continue their promising early season form.

City announced themselves to the wider public with a record victory against Bohemians in front of the TV cameras last week, but they face a familiar foe with the trip to Oriel Park tomorrow in the form of opposition manager, Stephen Kenny.  However even the former boss must cast an envious glance at the League table to see the start his former assistant Devine has enjoyed this season.

The post match reaction of the players told’s it own story.  No wild celebration, the squad just congratulated each other and exited the pitch.  This was a chance of very much job done for City as they came to Dublin and put a toothless Bohs side to the sword on their own patch.  The scoreline may have made the rest of the League sit up and take notice, but it was a clinical performance from a new look Candystripe side.

Double header offers City home comforts

After last week’s terrific late victory in Cork, the Candystripes are back on home turf this week and looking to solidify their spot in the upper reaches of the Airtricity League table.  With back to back home games against Shelbourne and Bray Wanderers there is the opportunity to impress the home crowd and garner up to six points.  The Candsytripes have yet to record a home victory in any competition this season and will be looking to put this record to rights over the weekend.

Tracey’s goal earns draw for NI U17s

Derry City’s U19 player, Joshua Tracey,  scored a late equaliser for Northern Ireland U17s in this evening’s Elite Round qualifier vs Netherlands.

Northern Ireland fought back from 2-0 down to earn a draw against the mini-tournament hosts and will now play Norway on Saturday.
