City face Galway at the Brandywell tomorrow night in the first round of the EA Sports Cup, kick off 7.45pm. The Tribesmen knocked City out the of competition last season with a comprehensive 3-0 victory, ending the Candystripe dominance of the competition in recent years. However Stephen Kenny will be keen to see how his new look side matches up to Premier Division opposition. The two sides met at the same venue in pre-season, with Derry recording a 1-0 home victory. The visitors are currently languishing near the foot of the Premier Division table, as Sean Connor looks to put his stamp on his new charges. The visitors will denied a home win at the weekend when a late goal for Sporting Fingal denied the home side all three points. Derry are currently riding high, having moved to second in the First Division race with results over the weekend. On the back of three wins confidence is high in the campaign, but a number of players continue to struggle with injury. With Thomas McBride finally receiving FIFA clearance the midfielder may make his competitive debut having impressed in pre-season.
