The 27 year old Martyn signed for City from UCD in 2002 and is probably the only player to have paid to play for the Candystripes.

Having signed a pre-contract agreement with Shelbourne, the player had a change of heart and paid €8,000 to remain on Foyleside.

Martyn is an attacking midfielder with an eye for goal, with 42 goals in 227 appearances for Derry City

Following the arrival of Pat Fenlon as Derry City boss last season, Ciaran was sent on to with Fredrikstad FK in the Norwegian Premier League. He spent 3 months in Norway before returning home to play the remainder of the season with City.
