Darren Quigley finally signed for Derry City in January 2008 from UCD - having been linked to a move to Brandywell in each of the previous two seasons.
Commenced his young career at Sallynoggin club, St. Joseph’s Boys, in the same club team as Paul McShane and Andrew Keogh. Chose to join Manchester City as an apprentice but a broken arm curtailed his progress and he joined UCD when he returned to Ireland.
Made his Ireland U21 bow during the successful Madeira Cup campaign of February 2006 and has been a squad regular since. Was called into the ‘B’ squad as a replacement for the injured Shane Supple ahead of the match against Scotland in November 2006.
