Gareth broke into the side in the 2001 season, aged just 17, and is regarded as a veteran despite being aged only 25.
A Donegal native, McGlynn can play on either wing or in the middle.
When he broke into the side fans wondered if his small frame would count against him in the physicality of the League of Ireland but McGlynn has disproved this and won over many.
His tricky play down the right wing provides a great option for City and his passes have been responsible for many a City goal.
Gareth has now made over 240 appearances for the Candystripes and scored 24 goals.
