Kevin broke into the team at right back under Kevin Mahon, but is now more commonly found on the right wing or in the midfield.

A fierce tackler, Deery is confident on the ball and can strike a ball.

He experienced a nightmare 2005 season, when he tore ligaments in pre-season and then broke down within 10 minutes on his return against UCD.

However 2006 was a stark contrast and a tremendous season was capped when Deery picked up the PFAI Young Player of the Year Award and the Goal of the Season award.

Like many of his fellow City players, Kevin had a disapppointing 2007 season, but having prospered during Stephen Kenny's first spell at the club, he will be looking to recreate his 2006 form this season.

Deery has only scored 9 goals for City but most memorably where his two wonderful goals away to Gretna during the 2006 UEFA Cup campaign.

A regular in the Republic of Ireland U-21 setup, Deery featured on uefa.com as a player to watch in 2007 as well as being called into the Republic B Team.
