Kevin was the big signing in the 2006 close season, joining from Finn Harps having spent nearly a decade in Ballybofey.
McHugh scored 110 goals in 184 for Harps, but moved to the Brandywell after Harps' relegation.
City secured the Killea man's signature despite interest from Shels, Bohs, Linfield and Portadown.
Kevin had a mixed first season at the Brandywell, and by his own high standards was probably disappointed by his performances. He struggled to break up the Beckett/Farren partnership upfront and often found himself deployed on the right wing.
His hard work and tireless running there meant he quickly won over the City faithful, despite his long history with local rivals Harps.
Kevin had a much better second season with City despite the team struggling on the pitch- finishing the season as top goalscorer during the 2007 season with 12 goals in all competitions. He also made 47 appearances, more than any other Derry City player in 2007.
