Farren burst into the consciousness of the City support, with a hat trick against Limerick in the key relegation playoff of 2003.
Mark struggled with injuries in the 2004 season and had only a peripheral influence on that season. However the 2005 season was just rewarded for the young striker who had been plagued with injuries for long periods of his career. Farren stayed injury free and his 18 League goals were critical in City's push for the title.
The season was to end in heartache as City lost the title on the final day, but Farren was rewarded with the Player of the Year award for his display.
A small figure, Farren's lighting pace and finishing ability meant that he has become one of the most feared strikers in the country.
Last season, Mark's six goals saw him overtake both Owen Da Gama and Alex Krstic to become City's 7th leading all-time goalscorer.
Aged 25, City fans will be hoping that Mark continues to score freely for many years to come
