Ruaidhri is a County Derry native and was snapped up following his release by Coventry City.
An intelligent midfielder who has fantastic vision and a great range of passing, he was a regular in the Northern Ireland U-21 side.
Following the expiration of his contract at the end of the 2006 season there was speculation that Higgins might seek regular first team football elsewhere with Bohemians offering him a deal. However following talks with then City boss Pat Fenlon, Higgins elected to sign a new two year deal at the Brandywell and Fenlon claimed "He’s a quality player, who can pass the ball very well and there isn’t that many players in the league who can pass the ball as good as him.”
He made 38 appearances for City during the 2007 season and he will be hoping to stake a starting midfield role under Stephen Kenny.
