City head to Dublin’s Northside tomorrow, as they look to continue the recent good run. Aaron Callaghan’s Bohemians side provide the opposition, with the game marking City’s first televised appearance of the season.
City’s recent good form has seen them win three games on the bounce, scoring seven goals and conceding none. In fact City have only conceded two goals in the 2013 Airtricity Premier Division. The last time that the Candystripes lost to Bohemians was 29th September 2009, and since then they have gone on to win 6 games and drawn one.
Speaking ahead of the game Declan Devine had this to say, “We are really looking forward to heading down to Dublin. We have played very well away from home this season and I’m very pleased from that point of view. The team has been playing at a great tempo and creating lots of chances.
We’re full of confidence and hopefully we will be able to show people who haven’t seen us so far this season that we are playing some good attractive football. People have been telling me all week that it’s a number of years since we last lost to Bohemians, but as far as I’m concerned history goes out the window as soon as you go on the field. Aaron has put together a good young squad and one that has shown already this season that they are hard to beat and we won’t be taking anything for granted come kick off tomorrow evening.”
City will be without the services of Stewart Greacen and Sean Houston, whilst Rory Patterson’s fitness is still being monitored to see if he will be available to make the trip south. Whilst City may be deprived of the services of the free scoring marksmen, new signing Michael Rafter has scored three in his last two games and may get the nod to lead the line tomorrow night.
Aaron Callaghan’s side defeated Shelbourne at the start of the week and this saw them leap up to the top half of the table. The Gypsies will be without Michael Barker, Owen Heary and Chris Lyons.
Derry will be without the services of Stewart Greacen (knee) Sean Houston (hamstring)
