Kenny Shiels has been hard at work over the past few weeks looking for players to join the team and the club are delighted to welcome the following players to the Candystripes:
Gavin Peers is a centre back who formerly played for St Pats and Sligo Rovers. The Dublin born player’s experience is something Kenny feels the team needs.
“Gavin Peers brings experience and organisation. He knows the league and he is something we haven’t got – his experience and organisational skills will lend himself to our needs.”
Armin Aganovic is a Swedish player central defender and previously played for Galway United.
“Aganovic played for Galway the year before last, I tried to sign him and Cork tried to sign him, he’s 23 and a very good player with experience and he is ideal for what we are about.”
David Hopkirk a Scottish professional footballer who has been on Kenny’s radar for some time.
“He is an attacking midfielder who I tried to sign when I was at Morton, he’s a player I have always been interested in. He is signed and ready to come in and play in January.”
John Cofie became the youngest ever million pound player at just aged 14 when Manchester United bought him.
“He is the youngest ever million pound player at aged 14, Manchester united bought him then he went to Royal Antwerp, Barnsley and Southport. He’s now 24 and it is a good opportunity for him and for me to resurrect his career.”
Conor Agnew is an American player from South Carolina who was on trial with the club prior to the end of the season.
“He was here on trial and he is a dynamic midfield player who offers a different type of play to what we currently have and I think it will work well for us.”
