Conor McDermott extends contract at Derry City until the end of the 2020 season.
Having come through the youth ranks at the club to cementing his place as a first-team regular, Conor has come a long way since making his senior debut back in early 2016.
With 60 Candystripe appearances to his name, including Friday night’s season opener, Kenny Shiels is delighted to have McDermott commit to Derry City until 2020.
The Culmore man’s natural position may be in midfield but he’s found most of his senior team appearances have come at right-back where he’s excelled and earned compliments from the likes of former Dundalk player, Daryl Horgan, who compared him to Seamus Coleman.
The 20 year old has also featured in the Northern Ireland U21 squad, having played against a French side which featured the likes of Celtic striker Moussa Dembélé, Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembélé and PSG duo Jean-Kévin Augustin and Adrien Rabiot.
