A new look City side seized all three points from Limerick on Friday night.
Four of the new signings (Fisk, Roy, Splaine and Seaborne) made their Brandywell debuts in the starting eleven in front of a reduced audience.
Derry were on top in the opening period but on the 35th minute, Connor Ellis gave Limerick the lead after a pull back from Fitzgerald.
The lead didn’t last long as debutant Aaron Splaine picked up the ball on the edge of the Limerick box and thumped the ball over Tommy Holland and into the net.
The sides went in level at the break but less than a minute after the restart, Ally Roy low shot put Derry in front, as the second debutant to score on the night.
City searched in vain to get another to settle themselves as Rory Hale’s long range effort rebounded off the post but in the end it was enough.
