Who are the Friends of Derry City?
Formerly known as the Derry City Development Committee, The Friends of Derry City has operated since 1962 and are a group of like-minded supporters who volunteer with the objective of promoting the football club and raising vital funds.
Over the last decade the group has contributed over £400,000 to the club through ventures such as the extremely popular Europa League Draw.
These funds are essential for the club to remain sustainable and competing in the top tier of Irish Football.
Supporting our Academy & Women’s Teams
Derry City Football Club is more than just the first team.
Overseen by Paddy McCourt, the club’s academy now has U-19, U-17, U-15 and U-13 teams competing in the FAI National Leagues, as well as the Women’s team who compete in the Northern Irish Premiership.
Travel, kit and training expenses make this a huge undertaking so the FoDC group will be heavily focused on supporting this aspect of the club.
Preview of our 2019 Plans
The group recently got together again and had its first meeting ahead of the new season and there a number of exciting plans for the season ahead.
We will be taking part in the FAI National Draw; last year prizes included cars, holidays, UEFA Champions League Final tickets and a private box at the Aviva Stadium among others.
There will also be high profile golf event so keep an eye out for details.
The group’s effectiveness (and indeed the potential of Derry City FC itself) is limited only by the number of volunteers it has.
There are more ideas for projects than we currently have the resources to support so if you think you can help your football club then get involved.
Fresh blood and new ideas are always encouraged.
Come along to one of our meetings where everyone is welcome or contact [email protected].
