Waterford v Derry City – Mon 22nd April – KO 4pm – RSC, Waterford
SSE Airtricity League
There was little respite for Declan Devine’s team after Friday night’s narrow defeat at home to Shamrock Rovers -the Brandywell side were on the road again first thing on Easter Sunday morning ahead of Monday’s game in Waterford (KO 4pm).
The Candystripes can feel justifiably disappointed to have come out of the ‘Hoops’ clash empty-handed however they face another difficult task here against Alan Reynolds’ side.
The Blues posted a decent win over Cork City at the weekend which will have lifted their confidence after an in and out start to their campaign.
Derry Manager Devine welcomes back Jamie McDonagh following his recent suspension and he will have been delighted as well to see Conor McDermott make his comeback from injury as a substitute on Friday night.
“It’s a hectic schedule as we keep saying but it’s the same for everyone and we just have to embrace it” said Devine.
“There has been little or no recovery time and no doubt we will have to freshen things up for the Waterford game but that’s a call we’ll make on Monday afternoon.”
“The players have given everything we’ve asked of them and while I feel we were very unlucky to get nothing from the Rovers match, we’re ready to go again.”
“Waterford will be in good spirits after beating Cork so we will have to be on top of our game to get anything from this one.”
The schedule gets no kinder for Derry in the coming weeks, albeit next weekend’s double-header, Cork on Friday and Bohs on Monday are both at the Brandywell
