Derry City v Finn Harps – Fri 24th May – KO 7.45pm – Brandywell
SSE Airtricity League
Match Sponsor: Nando’s Derry
Declan Devine is expecting another tough encounter when Finn Harps visit the Brandywell on Friday night for the first of two matches against Derry City in the space of three days.
The sides will meet again on Monday evening in the quarter final of the EA Sports Cup, however the City boss is looking no further than this weekend’s clash.
The Candystripes have taken just three points from their last four league games, however Devine is aware that that isn’t a true reflection of his side’s efforts.
“In the main we have played fairly well in most of those games, and anyone who was at Richmond Park on Tuesday night will have seen that we certainly didn’t deserve to come away with nothing.”
“It’s a very tough league we’re in so we don’t dwell on results- win, lose or draw because there’s always another big game coming up.”
“That’s obviously the case again now with Finn Harps in town this weekend.”
“I’ve said before that I have never been involved in an easy match against them, either as a player or a manager, and I don’t expect that to change this week.”
Derry expect to be close to full strength for Friday’s ‘derby’ with only their long-term absentees ruled out.
“Michael McCrudden and Patrick McClean are still unavailable and Darren Cole came off against St Pats so he’ll have a fitness test ahead of the game” said the Manager.
“Other than that we’re in good shape and looking forward to what is always a special occasion.”
“Hopefully we’ll have our supporters out in numbers as that always gives the players a real lift.”
On match day from 7pm, tickets will be on sale from Long Tower Youth Club which can be accessed from the stadium car park.
