Dundalk v Derry City – Fri 3rd May – KO 7.45pm – Oriel Park
SSE Airtricity League
Declan Devine says he is hopeful of having 21 of his 22-man squad available for selection for tomorrow night’s game against champions Dundalk at Oriel Park, with long-term absentee Michael McCrudden now the only one remaining on the treatment table.
Aidy Delap and Ally Gilchrist had been carrying knocks but both will travel to County Louth and the manager is confident that they would be ready if selected.
There was little doubt that the heavy schedule in April had taken its toll during the defeat to Bohemians on Monday night, and Devine may well have to shuffle the deck ahead of another key clash.
“We’re going to the home of the Champions and therefore we know what to expect.”
“Dundalk are a quality side, the best in the league, so we will have to be ready for the challenge.”
“The players will get a chance to get a few days off after the game which is a luxury we haven’t been able to afford for a while, so that is something we can look forward to.”
“To their credit they have kept on giving, and whilst there a few tired legs on Monday night, we have had a few days recovery time and we go again on Friday.”
“Everybody is fit and everybody wants to play so we will look at our options closer to kick-off.”
City don’t have much of a record at Dundalk in recent years, while the champions have really hit their straps in the last few weeks after an indifferent start to their season.
The visitors however will be keen to bounce back from that Bohs defeat having already fared well against all the other top sides so far.
