Derry City v St. Pat’s Ath. – Fri 10th May – KO 7.45pm – Brandywell
SSE Airtricity League
Match Sponsor: MacDermott, Magurk & Partners Solicitors
Declan Devine has a full squad to pick from this week as he prepares his side for the second of three league meetings against St Pat’s in the space of six weeks at the Brandywell on Friday night.
The Candystripes claimed the honours at Inchicore in the first of that trio of matches but the City boss insists that result bears no significance heading into this weekend.
“We were excellent that night but it’s gone now and it has absolutely no relevance to this game.”
“I have a lot of time for Harry (Kenny) and he likes his team to play the game the right way.”
“They’ve been in decent form themselves despite losing last week and it wasn’t that long ago they were stringing together a run of four or five results.”
“This league is so competitive and you have to stay switched on and that’s what we have tried to do.”
“It has been a heavy schedule but the squad has dug in and I thought we showed real character to get a point in Dundalk last week.”
“You can’t dwell on results however and we need to be ready to go again on Friday.”
“We took the opportunity to give the players a couple of days off this week; something we haven’t been able to do for a while, so I’m hoping we’re fresh for the match.”
“On the team front, only Michael McCrudden is a long-term absentee, but he got good news from the specialist this week. His cast is now off and he will start back into a training schedule over the coming days and although it will take time, it is great for us to have him on the road to recovery.”
City are back in Richmond Park again towards the end of this month- that match pulled forward from July given Pats’ Europa League commitments.
On match day from 7pm, tickets will be on sale from Long Tower Youth Club which can be accessed from the stadium car park.
